Reliance Jio emerged as the top-performing telecom operator in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts, recording the highest network availability and fastest mobile data download speeds in the latest Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
According to the IDT results, Jio achieved an average download speed of 186.07 Mbps, significantly ahead of other operators. Airtel recorded an average download speed of 81.74 Mbps, followed by Vodafone Idea (17.91 Mbps) and BSNL (6.71 Mbps). Jio also registered an average upload speed of 13.46 Mbps.
The drive tests were conducted by TRAI from April 23 to 25, 2026, covering 446 km across the three southern Odisha districts. The assessment included major public locations such as Ganjam Railway Station, Gopalpur Beach, Gunupur Bus Stand, Paralakhemundi Bus Stand and Market Street, Mohana Market, Rayagada Market and R. Udayagiri Market to evaluate network performance under real-world conditions.
Jio also recorded the highest network availability at nearly 98 per cent during the survey. BSNL followed with 86.44 per cent, Airtel with 81.39 per cent and Vodafone Idea with 23.3 per cent. The operator also reported less than 2 per cent call drops and the lowest call silence instances during the tests.
According to the latest telecom subscriber data released by TRAI, Jio remains the largest telecom service provider in Odisha across wireless, wireline and fixed wireless access segments, with more than 1.8 crore mobile subscribers and over 7.66 lakh JioFiber and JioAirFiber broadband subscribers in the state.
