The Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Mukesh Ambani, said the company is embracing rapid global changes by reshaping its core businesses with cutting-edge technology.

In a letter to shareholders, as shared in the company’s annual report, Ambani said the company is undergoing a significant transformation, steering itself into a deep-tech-driven future as it nears its 50th anniversary.

At the centre of this transition are four identified growth engines namely Retail, Digital Services, Media and Entertainment, and New Energy.

“Each of these platforms is technology-first, innovation-led, and positioned to disrupt industries while delivering massive value to Indian consumers and the global market,” Ambani said.

“In every business from energy to entertainment, from retail to digital services we are integrating next-generation technologies,” he said. “Over 1,000 of our in-house scientists are leading cutting-edge research in areas like AI, renewable energy, advanced materials, and digital platforms,” he added.

Ambani highlighted that the company is now future-proofing its manufacturing infrastructure to support India’s ambition to become a global manufacturing powerhouse.

He also tied Reliance’s transformation to India’s broader development agenda during what he referred to as the Amrit Kaal.

RIL’s annual report also mentioned that Reliance Jio has emerged as the world’s largest telecom operator with over 480 million subscribers, including 191 million users on its fifth-generation (5G) network.

It is also working with the Central government on the INDIAai initiative, and investing in satellite communications (satcom) as well as 6G technologies to be future-ready.

“Jio emerged as the world’s largest data network with 488 million users, including 191 million on 5G,” Ambani said.

Another interesting data shared by the Annual Report is that Mukesh Ambani has not drawn any salary for the fifth consecutive year in FY25. Since FY21, Ambani has not taken any compensation. Prior to that, his annual pay had been voluntarily capped at ₹15 crore from FY09 to FY20.
