Miffed SC cancels Subrata Roy’s parole

thestatesman.com |

In a setback for Sahara chief Subrata Roy, the Supreme Court on Friday refused to extend his parole and directed the police to take him into custody.

A bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur cancelled the "interim arrangements" of granting him parole as he got upset after learning that all the properties given by Sahara to market regulator SEBI were already under attachment by Income Tax authorities.

The Chief Justice immediately ordered the cancellation of parole and directed Roy along with two other directors of Sahara to be taken into custody.

The trio will remain in police custody till October 3 which is the next date for hearing.
