Extending Tuesday&’s jumps amid positive global cues, domestic equity markets started Wednesday&’s trading session on a higher note.
At 9.35 am, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 117 points higher at 28,460 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 42 points up at 8,786.
On Tuesday, the Sensex had closed 440 points higher at 28,303 and the Nifty had closed 134 points up at 8,744.
In the broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices jumped around 0.5 per cent each.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Realty index became the top gainer with a jump of 1.1 per cent while IT index became the top loser with a cut of 0.2 per cent.
Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Asian Paints (up 1.8 per cent), Hero Motocorp (up 1.8 per cent), Cipla (up 1.2 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 1.1 per cent) and Adani Ports (up 1 per cent).
Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: TCS (down 1 per cent), ONGC (down 1 per cent), NTPC (down 0.7 per cent), Wipro (down 0.2 per cent) and Infosys (down 0.1 per cent).
However, the Rupee was trading three paise down at 67.05 against the US Dollar.
