With an aim to improve its existing 4G LTE services, Bharti Airtel on Friday announced that it has shut down its 3G network in Punjab.

Punjab is the third state after Haryana and Kolkata, where the company has taken a drastic step and phased out its 3G service.

In a company statement, Airtel said that the company’s broadband services in the state will now be available to Airtel customers on 4G network along with HD quality VOLTE calling.

However, Airtel will continue to provide 2G services in Punjab to serve the connectivity needs of customers on feature phones.

As per reports, Airtel had said that the 900MHz spectrum was used for the 3G services, but now it will be dedicated to the 4G services in the provinces, thereby improving the connectivity for 4G users.
