Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said corruption in Central government has become a “thing of past” and the same positive change was taking place in states as well.

Addressing the 2nd India Investor Summit in the national capital, Jaitley said: “Corruption in Central government has become a thing of past. This is happening in States as well.”

“The present government has taken quick decisions whether it is implementing GST or targeting subsidies are concerned… As far as black money, benami transactions are concerned, it is no more safe in India to deal in excessive cash,” he added.

Speaking on the issue of farmers’ loan waiver, Jaitley said: “As far as farm loan waiver by states is concerned, they have to find their own resources for this purpose.”

On the issue of divestment, Jaitley said the Centre has an “ambitious target” for divestment and the issue of Air India is on top of the list.

“We have ambitious Target for divestment this year. Even today, we have Air India divestment meeting,” he said.
