PM to meet key infra ministers this week
KOLKATA, 24 JUNE: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will hold a meeting of key infrastructure ministries on Friday this week to fix the the target to be achieved by the sector. "The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the targets to be achieved in these infrastructure sectors for the year 2013-14 and finalise them," an official statement said today. The Prime Minister had followed the same practice last year in which a meeting was held on the targets for fiscal 2012-13, which were then finalised and announced. This year also, the Planning Commission has done the preparatory work in finalising the targets for fiscal 2013-14. At the end of this meeting, the targets would be formally announced, the statement said. The meeting will be attended by ministers of railways, road transport & highways, shipping, civil aviation, power and coal, the statement added. sns
Gold import tariff
NEW DELHI, 24 JUNE: The government today slashed the import tariff value of gold to $421 per 10 gm and that of imported silver to $709 per kg, considering the falling trend in global prices. Tariff value is the base price on which the customs duty is determined to prevent under-invoicing. Last month, the tariff value of gold was at $459 per 10 gm and silver at $737 per kg. The notification in this regard has been issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC). The government has reduced the import tariff value of gold as global prices in Singapore have been volatile in the last few days. pti
Airtel cuts data tariff
NEW DELHI, 24 JUNE: Bharti Airtel customers can now avail its 4G data plans starting from Rs 450, down 31 per cent from Rs 650 earlier in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh circles. It is also offering free access to a library of 1,000 movies and 100 games on plans above Rs 999 in the 4G services, the company said in a statement. pti

MUMBAI, 24 JUNE: Jet Airways, which is awaiting regulatory approvals to offload 24 per cent stake to the Gulf carrier Etihad Airways, is likely to submit a revised deal to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board shortly, sources said. pti
AllBank-LIC tie-up
KOLKATA, 24 JUNE: Life Insurance Corporation of India, Howrah Division has signed an MoU with Allahabad Bank for marketing of micro insurance policies in the rural areas where the bank has its presence. This is the first time that a bank has signed an MoU with LIC for marketing of micro insurance business, according to an LIC Press release. sns
