The US Consulate General in Chennai launched its 2019 Student Visa Season with an information session on US student visas hosted by Consular Chief Kent May on 11 April at the American Center, Chennai. “The United States has some of the finest educational institutions in the world, and millions of international students and professionals agree. There are more than a million foreign students in the United States ~ and nearly 200,000 are from India. I encourage anyone considering study abroad to think about applying to a college or university in the United States,” said Kent May, US Consul for Consular Affairs.

“Our educational institutions need the very best international students, because we need talented global citizens who can help solve the challenges we face in a complex world. Talk to one of our educational advisers to learn more about the opportunities offered in the United States.”

This information, presented by consular officers helped guidance counsellors, educators, students and parents understand the US student visa application process and answer questions.

Indian students studying in the US represent the second-largest foreign nationality studying in the country (17.9 per cent of all international students). There are over 4,500 accredited colleges and universities in the US.
