The latest edition of Springdales Education Society’s environment festival was organised at its farm in Chattarpur recently. The festival is a celebration of the continued involvement of the students for the cause of environment. Rajni Kumar, chairperson, Springdales Education Society, is actively involved in introducing the students to the wonders of nature while participating in a variety of ‘hands-on’ activities.
The year-long activities culminated in a two day ‘Environment Festival – Hamara Paryavaran’ comprising various workshops, farm activities and theatre performances related to environment sensitisation and sustainable living. Working models and science projects made by the students were put on display for experiential learning.
The festival this year was inaugurated by Derk Segaar, Director, UNIC for India and Bhutan. Welcoming the guests, Jyoti Bose, Director, Springdales Schools, shared the institution’s vision for the cause of environment.

Segaar, in his address, while appreciating the work of the students, commented on the uniqueness of the project. He informed the students that, India will host World Environment Day 2018 on 5th June, and the theme is — Beat Plastic Pollution. He suggested that as students they can contribute by following and propagating efforts to combat single-use plastic by simple steps like not using plastic bottles and polybags.
Ameeta Mulla Wattal, Principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road, welcomed the Guest of Honour Radhika Suri, Director, World Wildlife Fund, for the valedictory function. Suri, while appreciating the efforts of the school, expressed her delight at the presentations of the students and their conviction to protect and respect their environment.
She enthralled them with her story regarding the WWF Panda, and shared her experiences with them. In her address, the Chairperson of Springdales Education Society, Rajni Kumar, appreciated the spirit and commitment of the teachers and parents who had been involved with the programme.
Springdales Schools have entered the World Book of Records under "honour category" for organising largest agglomeration of 1500 students to create awareness regarding a “sustainable future”
