Siliguri College of Commerce (SCC) marked a proud milestone on Wednesday as it celebrated its 64th foundation day with a ceremony filled with tradition, reflection, and cultural vibrancy.
The day began on the college grounds with a flag-hoisting ceremony, where the college flag was unfurled jointly by Arun Kumar Sarkar, president of the governing body, and Dr Ranjan Sarkar, principal of the institution. The solemn moment, symbolising the college’s enduring values and legacy, was attended by faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students.
What followed was a lively celebration of artistic expression and community spirit. A colourful cultural programme brought together students and teachers alike, showcasing their diverse talents through traditional dances, patriotic songs, and dramatic performances. The event beautifully reflected the blend of heritage and modern creativity that defines the SCC campus.
Addressing the gathering, principal Dr Ranjan Sarkar expressed pride in the institution’s six-decade-long contribution to commerce education in North Bengal.
“Today, we not only commemorate the founding of this great institution but also celebrate the spirit of learning and collaboration that has guided us for 64 years,” he said, extending gratitude to the faculty and students for their commitment and enthusiasm.
Arun Kumar Sarkar, in his address, lauded the college’s consistent academic achievements and reaffirmed the governing body’s support for its future growth.
The celebration stood as a testament to SCC’s remarkable journey—a legacy of excellence, unity, and an enduring spirit of learning—setting a positive tone for the academic year ahead.
