Serampore’s Mahesh Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Vidyalaya

Serampore’s Mahesh Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Vidyalaya (Higher Secondary) has been awarded the title of Best School by the state government’s education department for its quality of education, student evaluation, and consistent success in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations, along with its student-friendly environment.

Last Thursday, chief minister Mamata Banerjee presented a memento and certificate to the school secretary, Swami Shiveshanandaji Maharaj, and headmaster, Krishnendu Banerjee, at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata. Education minister Bratya Basu and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The announcement of the award sparked excitement among current and former students. The school has a record of producing meritorious students who frequently feature in the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary merit lists. Its pupils have also excelled in national-level examinations such as NEET and the Joint Entrance Examination.

Explaining the recognition, Swami Shiveshanandaji Maharaj said the honour reflects the school’s ongoing development, strong infrastructure, sound management, high-quality teaching, and emphasis on creativity.

Class 10 student Oishik Laha remarked: “We receive quality education in a student-friendly ashram environment, supported by the dedication of teachers and the guidance of Maharaj.”

Headmaster Krishnendu Banerjee added: “This title is the success of everyone. The honour will enrich our students, teachers, and society at large.”
