The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) officially declared the Class 12 examination results on Wednesday, recording an overall pass percentage of 91.46 per cent. Of the 2,65,417 students who appeared for the high-stakes exams, 2,42,755 cleared the examination successfully. The results once again highlighted the strong academic performance of female students, who outperformed boys across the state.
Girls dominated the merit list, securing the top four ranks in Punjab. Supneet Kaur from Gurukul Academy Public School in Mansa emerged as the state topper with a perfect score of 500 out of 500. Suhani Chauhan from BCM Public Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, and Divanshi from Teja Singh Independent Memorial School, Shimla Puri, followed closely with identical perfect scores. While Supneet represented the Science stream, the second- and third-rank holders were from the Humanities stream.
Stream-wise data reflected strong performances across disciplines. In Humanities, Suhani and Divanshi led the rankings, while Afreen Aajim from Play Way School, Patiala, secured the third position with 499 marks. In the Science stream, Tarannum Kaur of Kapurthala and Simran Tiwari of Ludhiana secured the second and third spots after Supneet Kaur. In Commerce, Sapna from Government Meritorious School, Patiala, topped the stream with 493 marks.
District-wise figures showed Patiala leading the state with 58 students in the merit list, followed by Ludhiana with 39 and Amritsar with 27. The gender gap in performance remained significant, with girls recording a pass percentage of 94.73 per cent, compared to 88.52 per cent among boys.
Officials said 17,495 students have been placed in the compartment category, while 5,109 students failed the examination. Results of 58 candidates have been withheld due to technical reasons.
The board has uploaded the results on its official website, allowing students to access their scorecards using their roll numbers or names. To help students facing technical issues or result-related queries, the Education Department has also activated a dedicated helpline number: 95491-61161.
Celebrations were reported from several schools across Punjab as students marked their success with Bhangra performances and festivities.
