Marginal dip in St Stephen’s cut-offs

The first cut-off percentages for the 2017-18 academic session announced by the prestigious St Stephen’s College on Wednesday saw only a marginal dip of 0.50 per cent compared to last year, despite the marks moderation policy followed by the Central Board of Secondary Education in its Class XII Board exam evaluation.

Delhi University (DU) is expected to announce its first cut-off list in about a week. The highest cut-off at Stephen’s this year is for English at 98.50, a dip of 0.50 per cent compared to last year. The cut-off for Economics saw an upscale of 0.25 per cent compared to last academic year. History saw a dip of 0.25 per cent compared to last year.
Cut-off for Philosophy, Mathematics and BA programme remained similar to that of last year at 97 per cent. The lowest cut-off was for Sanskrit at 70 per cent with a steep dip of 10 per cent compared to last year. The highest cut-off in science subjects was for Physics at 96.66 per cent, followed by Chemistry at 96.33 per cent and then B.Sc. programme.

St Stephen’s offers humanities courses like B A Programme, B A (Honours) Economics, B A (Honours) English, B A (Honours) History, B A (Honours) Philosophy , BA (Honours) Sanskrit while it offers B Sc. Programme (Physical Sciences), BSc. (Honours) Chemistry, BSc. (Honours) Mathematics and BSc. (Honours) Physics in science stream.
A total of 24168 applications were received by St. Stephen's this year.

The list of candidates selected for the aptitude test and interview will be displayed on 15 June on the college website. The selected candidates will be called for interviews. The interview will be preceded by a short written aptitude Test of 30 minutes’ duration. Admission is granted on the basis of composite merit with Class XII marks having 85 percentage weightage, aptitude test 5 % and interview 10 per cent.

Being a minority institute affiliated to Delhi University, Stephen’s reserves seats for Christian candidates under Church of North India, CNI Delhi Diocese, Christian Others, Christian Physically Challenged, Christian Scheduled Tribes and for Urdu candidates.
