ITI academic session to revise

As annual academic session of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) ending in the month of July every year, many passing out ITI students could not meet the admission date deadlines in diploma courses of the Technical Education institutes for higher education.

Taking a serious notice of the development, the Punjab Technical Education minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that the Punjab government would soon take up the issue with the Union government for rescheduling the annual academic session of ITIs from the month of June to May.

Channi said that one academic year of ITI students is wasted just due to the present academic session of ITIs that ends in July and after this it takes almost a month to declare results. He said that by the date the results were pronounced the dates for admission in diploma courses lapses and students of ITIs were not able to get admissions for higher studies.

A delegation of the Punjab ITI Employees Association met the Technical Education Minister and gave a detailed representation regarding this faulty system. The Technical Education Minister assured them that the Punjab government would make all efforts to solve this issue on priority.

On this occasion the ITI employees also proposed to implement the sports grading system for ITI students and to start inter-state ITI games.
