A Higher Secondary girl examinee hanged herself in a village in Memari on Saturday afternoon after her mother scolded her for spending too much time with her cell phone.
Rukhsana Khatun (19) of Tatarpur village in Memari was found dead in her room. Moiruddin Mondal, the deceased’s elder brother, said: “Rukhsana had returned happily from the exam centre today and after lunch, got busy with her cell phone, for which my mother scolded her.” After nearly an hour, she was found hanging from the ceiling.
Meanwhile, a Madhyamik examinee died by allegedly committing suicide in the Topsia area of Kolkata, said police on Saturday.
The girl died by hanging herself after she felt she did not fare well in her examination exam.
According to police sources, the body of the minor was recovered from her house on Thursday night. The family of the deceased girl claims that she was depressed since the math exam which she took on the same day.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigating the entire incident.
The secondary exams ended on 12 February.
The family of the deceased girl said that although the rest of the exams were good, she was worried about the math exam.
