Conveyor & Ropeway Services Pvt. Ltd. (CRSPL), a Kolkata-based engineering company specialising in aerial ropeway systems, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee to associate on research and development of ropeway technologies, to provide technical and collaborative support for a sustainable transport in urban connectivity.
A major focus of the collaboration will be the evaluation and further development of CURVO, the world’s first non-linear ropeway technology developed by CRSPL that can negotiate curves and bends without detachment from the rope at line speed, unlike conventional ropeways that operate in a straight alignment. CURVO is designed to negotiate the curves and bends, along the road routes making it particularly suitable for urban transportation corridors.
Shekhar Chakravarty, chairman, CRSPL noted that CRSPl & IIT Roorkee would form a strong technical affiliation to promote the integration of Non Linear Ropeway Transportation into mainstream urban transport segments for a clean and green alternative commutation system.
Speaking on the occasion, Rachana Mukherjee, Director, CRSPL opined that the collaboration with IIT Roorkee marks a major milestone in the evolution of ropeway technology in India.
