The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rejected allegations made by Class 12 student Vedant Shrivastava regarding discrepancies in his re-evaluation results, saying the claims circulating on social media were “factually incorrect” and amounted to a “blatant lie”.
The clarification comes amid continued public attention over the board’s re-evaluation process after Shrivastava’s earlier posts had triggered questions about the evaluation of CBSE answer sheets. The board also said nearly all revaluation applications submitted after the Class 12 results have now been processed.
According to CBSE, Shrivastava had claimed in a recent social media post that his marks increased by only one mark in two subjects, while there was no change in his Physics score after re-evaluation.
The board disputed that version. It said Shrivastava’s Physics marks had increased by nine after the re-evaluation process.
CBSE says almost all revaluation applications processed
CBSE said 99.7 per cent of the revaluation applications received after the declaration of the Class 12 results have already been processed.
It added that the remaining cases are in the final stages of review and their results will be announced shortly.
The board also noted that last year, the process of publishing revaluation results began on June 27 and concluded on July 11.
Student’s earlier post had sparked controversy
Shrivastava had drawn widespread attention in May after posting on X that his original Physics answer sheet had allegedly been swapped with another student’s answer sheet. The allegation had triggered an online debate over the evaluation process for CBSE Class 12 examinations.
Earlier, on June 21, CBSE had announced the phased release of Class 12 verification and re-evaluation results.
In a post on X, the board had said more than 87 per cent of the applications had been processed at the time and assured students that the remaining results would be released in phases.
“Dearest students, CBSE has commenced the release of Class XII Verification of issues observed and Re-evaluation outcomes. The outcomes are being released in a phased manner, with over 87% of the total applications received being declared today. The outcomes of the remaining applications will be made available in phases, and the entire process is expected to be completed soon,” the board had said.
