The results of West Bengal Madhyamik Pariksha 2026 were declared today reflecting a close contest among 131 students who made it to the Merit List.
The topper’s list underscored an intense academic battle with students achieving different ranks by gap of a few numbers. Securing 698 marks, Abhirup Bhadra from North Dinajpur emerged as the first rank holder in this year’s Madhyamik exam. According to the President of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, Ramanuj Ganguly, the highly competitive merit list included students securing a percentage of very small differences. While the percentage of the first rank holder was 99.71, that of the tenth rank holders stood at 98.29 per cent. The topper’s list included 131 students from 19 districts with 103 male students and 28 female candidates. Priyatosh Mukherjee of Birbhum secured the second rank with 696 marks. For the third rank, three candidates ~ Soura Jana, Ankan Kumar Jana and Mainak Mandal made it to the list obtaining 695 marks.
As reiterated by Mr Ganguly, more than 9 lakh students had appeared for the Class X exam this year. Of this, 86.83 per cent cleared the Madhyamik exam, which was a steady percentage as compared to last year’s 86.56. The percentage of female candidates writing the exam was 25.4 per cent more than that of their male counterparts. The exam was held in 2,682 exam centres. This year’s examination was held from 2 February to 12 February across the state and the result was declared in 84 days.
In terms of district-wise performance, Kalimpong remained ahead in the race with the maximum number of students passing the Class X exam this year. East Midnapore stood second while Kolkata remained number three in the percentage of students clearing their Madhyamik exam this year.
Students wanting to check their Madhyamik Result 2026 would be able to do it by visiting the official websites and entering their roll number and date of birth. The mark sheet will display subject-wise scores, total marks, and qualifying status. The results can also be checked through SMS services.
