BURDWAN, 20 JUNE: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today dismissed the speculation that The Trinamul Congress may form an alliance with the BJP saying she would never enter into an alliance with a "communal and murderous party".
“The combination of Congress, BJP and CPI-M is deadly. We will never have an alliance with any communal or murderous party,” she said at an election campaign today at Galsi.
Referring to the report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) according to which West Bengal tops the charts for crimes against women, Miss Banerjee said: “It is true there have been some incidents. But such cases are being registered and offenders are now being punished. I condemn any kind of oppression against women. But the fact is, NCRB did not tally their data with the state.”
On the uncontested win of TMC in many panchayat seats, she said the same thing happened with the CPI-M in 2003 and 2008. Advocating the impartiality of state police, she said: “Now, people like Sudipto Sen, Shibu Yadav are being arrested. Even Munna was arrested though he did not murder anyone. He was involved in a crime and police arrested him. Such things never happened during the previous regime.”
Attacking the Congress, she said: “The Food Bill is a gimmick ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. I can vouch for it that they have no money.”
“There is a conspiracy to murder me. Some people are maligning the government everyday on television channels. Please don’t listen to them,” said the chief minister. sns
