About 50,000 people have visited the Sebaashray 2 medical camps till date.
The camps were started at Maheshtala and now they are being held at Metiabruz. The camps will be held in seven Assembly segments that fall under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat. They will be held in future at Satgachia, Budge Budge, Falta, Bishnupur and finally, at Diamond Harbour. They will be held till 28 January, 2026. From 24 to 28 January, follow up camps will be held. The initiative has been introduced by Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamul Congress Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour and party’s national general secretary.
On Day 8, that is today, 1,915 diagnostic tests were conducted free of cost. More than 3,000 people received consultancy of the doctors while another 355 persons were referred to for specialised care.
It may be mentioned that 22 elderly people underwent cataract surgery at private hospital in Maheshtala.
The Sebaashray 2 camps at Metiabruz have received overwhelming response from the people. Long queues were seen outside the camps from early morning. They were asked to register their names and were guided by the Trinamul Congress workers to see the specialist doctor whose consultation they had intended.
The Sebaashray 2 camps are cleaned and fumigated every day so that the doctors, nurses and para medical staffs can start their work afresh.
It may be mentioned that 12 lakh people had visited the Sebaashray 1 camps which ended early this year.
Those who need indoor admissions are financially supported by Mr Banerjee.
