RSS chief to visit Bengal after extensive campaign in state, Sikkim

With the series of Pramukh Nagarik Sammelan (PNS) programmes nearing completion in West Bengal and Sikkim, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat is likely to visit a few places in West Bengal, particularly Kolkata, next month, RSS sources said on Monday.

Dr Bhagwat has been travelling extensively across the country as part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s centenary celebrations, interacting with eminent personalities from diverse fields. The organisation has launched year-long programmes to mark its 100th year, beginning from Vijaya Dashami this year. In West Bengal, the centenary observance formally began from Mahalaya, keeping in mind the ongoing Durga Puja festivities in the state.

As part of the outreach initiatives planned for the centenary year, the RSS has held a series of PNS programmes aimed at engaging with distinguished citizens and strengthening public connect. In North Bengal and Sikkim alone, RSS units have organised PNS events in at least 35 locations since early November.

In Siliguri, three such programmes were held at different venues, addressed by saha kshetra prachar pramukh Jishnu Basu—who also serves as a faculty member at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kolkata, Hitesh Shankar, editor-in-chief of Panchjanya and Akhil Bharatiya sampark pramukh Ramlal.

RSS leaders emphasised that the organisation’s goal goes beyond structural expansion. The broader mission, they said, is to guide the nation towards excellence through character-building and, on that foundation, foster meaningful social transformation.

Ramlal addressed several meetings in Siliguri on 15 November and interacted with citizens in Darjeeling town on 16 November, discussing the Sangh’s ongoing initiatives and outreach.

Ramlal was felicitated by Brahma Kumari Keshar, Administrator of the Brahma Kumaris in north Bengal and Sikkim, at Sukhdham—their meditation centre on Bardhaman Road in Siliguri—on 15 November.

Across these programmes, speakers elaborated on panch parivartan—a five-point agenda conceived by the RSS for holistic societal transformation. The initiative focuses on:

• Samajik Samarasta (social harmony)

• Kutumb Prabodhan (family awakening)

• Paryavaran (environmental conservation)

• Swa-bhav jagran (self-reliance and cultural awareness)

• Nagrik Kartavya (civic responsibility)

Launched as part of the centenary year activities, panch parivartan aims to encourage transformation at individual, family, and societal levels, aligning with the Sangh’s vision of building a stronger, cohesive nation.
