Aiming to popularise Bengal’s Durga Puja internationally, Tollywood actor Rituparna Sengupta is to visit Times Square in United States of America as a representative of Bengal’s biggest festival.
The actor Bela and Puratawn actor is to visit Time’s Square as the face of Bengal to promote the state’s iconic festival that has received the recognition of an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
“Our Durga Puja has been recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. To make it more and more popular, Rituparna Sengupta is going to Times Square as the face of Bengal,” said mayor Firhad Hakim. “Even though Durga Puja is a religious festival, it has become big and has become a national festival. The money of this Puja reaches the remotest villages of the state where many people working in rice fields come to the city for making some earnings during the puja,” he added
