Renovated next-Gen post office opened at Jadavpur University

The N-GEN (Next-Generation) Jadavpur University Post Office, renovated and upgraded under the Department of Posts’ flagship N-GEN initiative, was inaugurated today at the Jadavpur University campus.

The inaugural ceremony was led by Prof Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, Vice-Chancellor, Jadavpur University, along with Prof Dr Selim Box Mandal, Registrar, in the august presence of Ashok Kumar, IPoS, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle; Riju Ganguly, Postmaster General, South Bengal Region; Supriyo Ghosh, Postmaster General (Mails & BD), West Bengal Circle; Hammad Zafar, DPS (HQ), West Bengal Circle and Pravat Banerjee, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, besides senior postal officers, students, faculty and media representatives.

The N-GEN Post Office marks a significant step in modernising postal services with a customer-friendly, technology-enabled and digitally empowered environment. The facility offers a comprehensive range of services under one roof, including savings schemes, insurance products, mail and parcel services and e-enabled citizen services.

Addressing the occasion, Ashok Kumar said the N-GEN initiative aims to transform traditional post offices into vibrant service hubs aligned with the expectations of the younger generation, while continuing to uphold the trust and reliability of India Post.

Prof Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharjee appreciated the Department of Posts for establishing a modern postal facility within the university campus, noting that it will greatly benefit students, faculty and the surrounding community by ensuring access to essential services.

The inauguration underscores the growing synergy between the Department of Posts and academic institutions, reaffirming India Post’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity and service excellence.
