According to police, a pandal at Barisha Silpara Shanti Sangh caught fire after a sky lantern fell on the pandal.

A fire broke out at a Kali puja pandal at Behala on Monday night when a sky lantern fell on the said pandal leaving it partially damaged. However, no damage was done to the idol. According to police, a pandal at Barisha Silpara Shanti Sangh caught fire after a sky lantern fell on the pandal. There was hardly any damage to the idol except minor damage to the pandal. The fire was extinguished within a few minutes with the help of a fire tender.

The incident, however, caused a flutter among the club members and in the locality as people ran for cover. In another incident, a lorry caught fire at a South Port police station. Police and one fire tender reached the spot and the fire was extinguished.
