Kolkata, 11 November: Commuters had a tough time today after Metro services were disrupted for nearly an hour .
This comes on the day the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways headed by T R Balu was in the city to take stock of Metro Railway functioning.
The disruption started at around 1.15 p.m. when a Kavi Subhash (New Garia) bound air-conditioned train developed a snag and was stranded at Esplanade station. Barely 15 minutes before this, seven members of the Standing Committee had alighted at Maidan station from a non-AC train after inspecting the Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) station.
Unable to fix the snag-hit train, Metro authorities announced a truncated service between Maidan and Kavi Subhash stations along the southern stretch and between Girish Park and Noapara stations in the north.
But despite the announcement the truncated services did not commence and several Metro trains were stranded at all stations along the truncated routes and the number of passengers began to swell by every passing minute.     SNS
