Man shot at in Baksara, under treatment; no arrests made

According to officers of Howrah City police Commssionerate, the shootout took place at around 7.30 am when Paritosh De alias Nemai De, who was returning from the local market riding on his motor cycle, came under attack at a corner of the road.

A person sustained bullet injury after he was allegedly shot at from close range at wee hours at Baksara, Howrah, this morning. The victim is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. No arrest has been made.

According to officers of Howrah City police Commssionerate, the shootout took place at around 7.30 am when Paritosh De alias Nemai De, who was returning from the local market riding on his motor cycle, came under attack at a corner of the road, where according to police, two miscreants with their faces covered in helmets, were allegedly waiting. Police sources quoting eyewitness accounts said, one of the two opened fire at Nemai as soon as he came closer, allegedly from point blank range but the bullet missed the target by a whisket and grazed one of his ears after a car coming from the opposite direction came in between them.

An officer at Santragchi police station said the injured person had cases againsthim in several local police stations. He was also involved in the real estate business.The Santragchi police have launched a probe. An officer at Santragchi police station, said: “We have launched a probe. We are looking into whether the shootout was a fallout of business rivalry or personal grudge. All angles are being looked into.”
