Kolkata, 6 December: The state will get a Rs 1,100 crore World Bank loan to provide piped water in arsenic and fluoride affected districts.
This is the second such World Bank loan to the state public health engineering department for arsenic and fluoride affected districts. The World Bank had provided Rs 1,000 crore in 2011.
Recently a team of officials from the World Bank met the Chief Minister and the state public health engineering minister Mr Subrata Mukherjee at Nabanna and it was decided that a MoU will be signed for providing funds for arsenic and fluoride affected districts. The Ministry of Waterways and Sanitation will be the bank guarantor. sns
