Lion Akbar and lioness Sita arrived in Siliguri safari

After successful captive breeding of Bengal tiger, a lion named Akbar and lioness Sita arrived in Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri today for this purpose.

Akbar and Sita have come here from Sepahijala Zoological Park in Tripura.

Seven-year-old Akbar was selected for the Bengal Safari Park by the Central Zoo Authority and the State Zoo Authority. On the other hand, five-year-old Sita was born in Tripura Zoo in 2018. Both Akbar and Sita know each other, forest officials said.

Besides, Akbar and Sita, a pair of leopard cats and the majestic langur also arrived at Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri today from Tripura.

The Royal Bengal tiger has set a precedent for breeding in Bengal Safari.

So this time after the Royal Bengal tiger, the park authorities are hopeful that there will be success in lion breeding.
