The circular stated, “….all the security personnel posted at Kolkata Municipal Corporation including the police personnel of Kolkata Police while performing official duties shall not use mobile phone for activities other than making and attending important calls and for official pur poses. Internet surfing and watching videos etc during duty hours are strictly prohibited.”

The civic body has also announced strict disciplinary action against those found violating the order. According to a KMC official source, a section of security personnel were observed to be busy on their mobile phones while on duty. The decision, according to sources, comes to prevent them from getting distracted while on duty
