Security forces have arrested an Indonesian woman at the Indo-Nepal border who has allegedly been residing in Mumbai for the past 10 years using forged identity documents.
According to officials, on 4 September, the Border Interaction Team of the 41st Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), ‘C’ Company, Panitanki, intercepted the woman near the Old Bridge, close to Border Pillar 90.
During questioning, she identified herself as Ninyoman Murni, claiming to be an Indian citizen. However, checks revealed forged documents and an Indonesian passport in her possession. The passport established her actual identity as Ni Kadek Sisiyani, a native of Bali, Indonesia.
Investigations further revealed that she had obtained an Aadhaar card and a PAN card through an agent in Mumbai. Using multiple identities, she had been travelling between India, Nepal, Turkey, and Indonesia for several years.
The SSB seized the forged documents along with digital evidence and, after a medical examination, handed her over to Khoribari police station. A case has been registered under the Foreigners Act, the Passport Act, and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The woman was produced before the ACJM Court on Friday. She has been remanded in police custody for five days for further investigation.
