Coming down heavily on the BJP, Trinamul Congress leaders said to save the country, defeating the “uncivilised” saffron party is a must.
They were commenting on the statement made by the national general secretary of the BJP BL Santosh that in Bengal the fight in 2026 Assembly election is not political but civilisational. To save the Bengali race it is absolutely necessary to defeat the Trinamul Congress.
Reacting sharply, Dr Shashi Panja, state minister for women and child development and social welfare said to save India and its women, the saffron party is absolutely essential. “Trinamul Congress will show the way by defeating the BJP in the 2026 Assembly election. The country is not safe under the BJP and also the women of India. The people of Bengal are safe under the Trinamul Congress rule and that is why they have voted for the party.”
Sagarika Ghosh, Trinamul Congress MP, said, “What Mr Santosh is saying is laughable. The only way to save civilization is by defeating the uncivilised BJP. Bengal has shown the way and will do it again.”
She further said that Bengal is at the heart of Indian civilisation, rooted in Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s ideology.
“The BJP can’t talk about civilisation. The BJP believes only in hatred, divisiveness, in violence, in attacking the minorities. To save Indian civilization, it is essential to defeat the BJP. Bengal will show the way and defeat the uncivilised BJP.”
