Police have recovered a half-burnt body of an unknown woman of about 32 years age at Nimcha under Raniganj Police Station area, today morning. Private security guards spotted the body lying in a forest area and informed Raniganj Police.

Though a few brick kilns are located near the site, due to monsoon all the kilns are closed and the area is deserted in evening and has become a safe haven for criminals, locals alleged. ACP (central) of Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate and other officials inspected the area later in the day.

The body of the woman has been sent to Asansol District Hospital for post mortem. Samples have been collected from the spot. Prima facie it seems that she has been murdered elsewhere and dumped here.

The way the dead body has been set on fire, it seems that miscreants had tried to erase the evidence. A petrol-filled bottle was found near the body. Police found an imprint of vehicle tyres in the mud. Officials felt that the woman’s body was brought in a vehicle here and dumped. So far, nobody has been arrested in this connection. Raniganj Police has started a suo motu case.
