Railway police is allegedly harassing the father of a youth, whose body was found on the railway track, by not providing him the post-mortem report.
The hapless father has written to Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee seeking her intervention. Copies of the letter were submitted to the CID.
On 21 May the body of Reyaz Hasan was found on the railway track near Park Circus. On 28 May his father, Mr Pervez Hasan, lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police Station, Sealdah alleging that he was murdered.
Since then he is running form pillar to post seeking justice, but railway police is allegedly harassing him and has even allegedly threatened him for taking the matter to higher authorities.
Mr Hasan said some local youths had killed his son after a quarrel over a dance competition. “I lodged a specific complaint with the names of the culprits. But even after detaining one of the accused the Government Railway Police released him. When I inquired about the matter, police said that this is not a case of murder and that my son was run over by a train as he was in an inebriated condition.”
Later, Mr Hasan informed the matter to the DSP (GRP) headquarters. “After I informed the matter to him he ordered for a change of the investigating officer. Mr Sahnawaz, who was looking after the matter was changed. But when I again visited the police station they said that they will not cooperate with me anymore and said that the ‘game is over’," said Mr Hasan.
From then onwards police are telling him that the post-mortem report has confirmed that his son was in an inebriated condition. Mr Hasan said that his son never took alcohol and was very shy.
