Five houses were gutted completely in a fire incident at a village in Bankura early this morning. A fire tender brought the blaze under control in one hour.

The houses built of mud and brick with strawthatched roofs are located at Tiwaridanga village within Mejia Police Station area.

One of the houses caught fire from the kitchen and the blazes leaped to the other houses, located close by. Though the houses were reduced to ashes, no one however suffered injuries as they got ample time to escape.
