State minister for Housing, MSME & School Education, Dipak Barman, on Friday announced that he will attend his office at Uttarkanya every Friday to oversee the functioning of his three departments and ensure closer administrative coordination for North Bengal.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Uttarkanya, Barman said his priority is to strengthen the state’s education system. Referring to the alleged teachers’ recruitment scam under the previous government, he said the education sector had suffered and asserted that restoring its credibility was now the government’s responsibility.
“My duty is to uplift the education system in West Bengal,” the minister said, adding that nearly 80,000 schools across the state are functioning and that the government is committed to improving both academic standards and infrastructure.
Recalling his own experience as a teacher in a government-aided school, Barman said he had always attended classes on time despite being active in politics. While appreciating the commitment of most teachers, he warned that action would be taken against those who neglect classroom responsibilities to engage in political activities during school hours.
Earlier, Barman met representatives of a group associated with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Discussions focused on statutory compliance in housing, strengthening the MSME ecosystem, fostering inclusive growth, and collaborative efforts for sustainable development in the state.
