Arambagh railway station serves as an important connectivity not only to Hooghly suburban towns but to the neighbouring districts. Thousands of people use the Arambagh-Goghat railway connectivity to visit Kamarpukur and Jairambati, which are of religious importance.

The All Bengal Citizens Forum president Sailen Parbat said there are a total three platforms in Arambagh railway station, of which Platform 2 and 3 are partly covered with sheds. Whenever a 12-compartment local train enters Platform 2 or 3, only two compartments of the train come under the shed while the rest 10 remain in the open. Passengers have no option than to wait for the arrival of trains under heat and rain. There is no proper drinking water facility and even no lavatories. Most of the passengers have to stand on the platforms since sitting arrangements are not sufficient.

The president of the Forum said, “A year back we submitted a memorandum to the general manager of Eastern Railways but till date no steps have been taken to provide the basic passenger amenities at Arambagh railway station. To press for our demand to provide passengers basic amenities at Arambagh railway station we have again submitted a memorandum to the general manager of Eastern Railway.
