SILIGURI, 18 JUNE: The Darjeeling district Collectorate received the ISO 9001-2008 certification for successful implementation of administrative quality management system from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The district magistrate, Mr Saumitra Mohan, said that a total of 12 districts, including Darjeeling district in the country, achieved the certification.
In West Bengal, four districts have achieved the BIS certification. Besides Darjeeling, three other districts like Birbhum, Burdwan and West Midnapore have received the certification.
Notably, Mr Mohan after joining here took initiative to achieve the certification and started developing administrative quality management system (QMS) and infrastructure to serve the people.
A month ago, a team form BIS came to Darjeeling to explore the present setup of the district headquarters in the Hills. Another BIS team came here and scrutinised QMS from yesterday and affirmed certification.
