Residents of Kaliaganj police station area of North Dinajpur are in communication crisis as all mobile telephone, internet broadband and land line telephones remained out of order for last three days. Reportedly, the land line telephones of some emergency offices like fire service, police station and municipality were out of service. The officials of BSNL of Kaliaganj have remained silent to the crisis.
The Chairman of Kaliaganj municipality, Mr Arund Dey Sarkar, said: "The service of the internet broadband of BSNL, mobile telephones and land telephones has remained affected in different phases in Kaliaganj for the past two months. It is not repaired properly after a problem. Bank branches are unable to get links frequently. Hence, the customers of the banks are being affected." "The land line telephones of some emergency offices have been out of order for the past three days. We previously urged the BSNL officials to repair the total system in Kaliaganj thoroughly but it has fallen on deaf ears", he said.
The Sub-divisional Officer of Telecom of Raiganj, Mr Somnath Ghosh, said: "BSNL services in Kaliaganj have been affected after lightning on Monday night. Some equipment were also damaged. We have already started to repair the services. The mobile service has already been restored. We are working on a war footing to restore services."
