The process of handing over enumeration forms to residents in various booth-level areas began in the district today.

Booth level officer (BLO) Tapan Kumar Majhi, a resident of Singur-II Gram Panchayat, attached to Booth No. 112, and also the headmaster of Gopalnagar Purba Para Primary School, commenced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work from his booth today at around 8 a.m. He distributed the forms to residents of different households and explained how to fill them up with recent photographs and supporting documents. He also handed out printed pamphlets outlining the do’s and don’ts for filling in the enumeration forms.

The BLO was accompanied by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of various political parties, who assisted him in his work.

Singur BDO Souvik Ghosal said that 280 BLOs are currently engaged in SIR duties across the Singur Assembly constituency.

BLO Tapan Kumar Majhi admitted that it is indeed challenging to balance his school duties while going door-to-door with the enumeration forms. “However, we have accepted the challenge and will complete the SIR within the stipulated time,” he said.

The BDO added that although one month has been allotted for the SIR work, the Election Commission may extend the period if necessary, with prior notification.
