The Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, who had earlier floated ‘three must-watch dates’ in December, today said that a “big rat” and “big dacoit” will be caught within 13 January.

Mr Adhikari held a meeting today at Hazra, near the residence of chief minister Mamata Banerjee, to protest the Hatuganj violence with BJP state president and MP Sukanta Majumder. “I am doing politics on the basis of hard reality as I am a Leader of Opposition. I don’t give gibberish and unrealistic statements to the Press during the morning walk. I gave three important dates and said wait and watch, but I did not ever say that the government will fall on 12, 14 and 21 December. BJP will not form a government with 70 MLAs and split the MLAs from other parties. We don’t want to form a government that way,” he said.

He criticised the state government over the recent TET examination and said it was unsuccessful. Even one CCTV was stolen from an exam Centre, he said. He said fear has gripped chief minister Mamata Banerjee so she is running the government completely with the help of police. “Yeh darr mujhe achcha laag raha hain (I like this fear),” he said.

Without mentioning the name of TMC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee he said, “Babusona, where are you now? Are you in Meghalaya with your aunt? You went to my hometown to join the rally and said that I fled away from there and joined the rally at Diamond Harbour. Now both of you are missing from your home turf,” he said.

Mr Adhikari also said that 13 January will be an important date as a “big rat”, who is also a “big dacoit” will be caught within this date. He also said the police have become slaves and they are protecting this corrupt regime.

“But the days of this regime are over. Their rule will be over in a few months. This regime cannot be saved by the police anymore,” Mr Adhikari said. He said the BJP will form “strong” teams in every booth to counter the TMC’s “terror” in the panchayat polls. “It will be fought inch by inch,” he said of the panchayat elections, due early next year.
