The Calcutta High Court has granted conditional bail to Prasanna Roy on a bond of ₹1 lakh in connection with the two cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the recruitment scam.
Prasanna had been in jail since February 2024 and is now set to be released.
The High Court granted him bail and said that he will appear before the investigating officer once a week.
Prasanna is considered a close associate of Shanti Prasad Sinha, a former official of the School Service Commission. Sinha was granted bail by the High Court a few months ago in the money laundering case filed by the central agency.
Reports further indicate that Roy had connections with the state’s former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee.
