The Sebaashray 2 camps have received overwhelming response from the people of Metiabruz with 54,700 people visiting the camps since it started on 1 December.
The camps were held for seven days in Maheshtala and now being held at Metiabruz. The camps entered the 10th day today.
At Metiabruz, 4,471 people had registered their names yesterday. Diagnostic tests were done on 2,673 people while medicines were given to more than 3,000 people free of cost. There are 16 camps in Metiabruz. Twenty eight people were referred for advanced treatment.
The Sebaashray 2 camps, a brainchild of Abhishek Banerjee, Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour and Trinamul Congress national general secretary are the one of its kind in the country. Sebaashray 1 camps, which ended early this year had recorded 12 lakh footfall.
The Sebaashray 2 camps will be held in all the Assembly segments under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seats. Free medical services are given to the people living in the areas under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat irrespective of their political affiliation. Mr Banerjee, who is abroad, keeps a tab on the camps daily. eye surgery was conducted on 22 persons at a private hospital.
The camps will be held till 28 January 2026. From 24 to 28 January there will be follow up camps.
