Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav is likely to meet Trinamul Congress chairperson Mamata Bandopadhyay on Friday.

The meeting is likely to be held in the afternoon in the city. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is organizing a meeting of the opposition parties in Delhi in the first week of April. Miss Banerjee is likely to attend the meeting. The prime issue of discussion will be highhandedness of the enforcement agencies and vendetta politics of the BJP. The opposition party leaders alleged that unable to face the opposition, the BJP had let loose the agencies to scare the opposition parties.

It was learnt that it had not yet been decided whether AAP would invite Congress and Left parties in the meeting.

Political experts said there were two opinions hovering around.

Some leaders said no opposition alliance was possible without Congress while the others said Congress should give up its arm twisting techniques and should understand the ground reality.

In West Bengal, CPM and Congress had formed an alliance to defeat the Trinamul in the by-election in Sagardighi.

In the ensuing panchayat election there will be an alliance of CPM and Congress and to form a national alliance both the parties should come forward and make their stand clearly before the election.

The leaders said after both CPM and Congress did poorly in the 2016 Assembly election though there was alliance, the Politburo of CPM had issued a statement which stated, “That the alliance was not in consonance with the decision of the central committee of the party.” But despite that statement, both Congress and CPM had made the clandestine alliance.

It was learnt that on Friday, Miss Banerjee would meet leaders of different districts at her residence and discuss policies that should be taken up for the forthcoming panchayat election.

After the Higher Secondary examinations are over, dates of the election would be announced.
