Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamul Congress national general secretary visited a model Sebaashray 2 camp in Diamond Harbour this afternoon.
Mr Banerjee, Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour took the Sebaashray initiative to provide free medical treatment to the people living under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat in 2024. The initiative has now been replicated at many of the constituencies.
Taking cue from the success from Sebaashray camps, he introduced Sebaashray 2 camps in all the Assembly segments under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat. The camps have already been held at Maheshtala, Metiabruz, Budge Budge, Bishnupur, Falta and Satgachia. It is now being held at Diamond Harbour. The camps are held for seven days in each Assembly segment. From 24 to 28 January follow up camps will be held in the areas.
There was overwhelming response from the people when Mr Banerjee reached the model camp. Mr Banerjee talked to the people who had visited the camp and assured all assistance.
So far 3,38,906 people have visited the Sebaashray 2 camps in the areas under Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat. Till yesterday 26,266 people have registered in Diamond Harbour Assembly seat. As many as 5,629 people were given medicines while 28 people were referred for higher treatment. Diagnostic tests were conducted on 6,053 people. There are 31 camps in Diamond Harbour.
In Diamond Harbour, Mr Banerjee has carried out all-round development and it is a model Lok Sabha constituency.
Mr Banerjee had inaugurated Sebaashray camps in Nandigram in East Midnapore. Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition, is the MLA from the seat. The people from Nandigram had requested Mr Banerjee to start the Sebaashray initiative.
There are two camps in Nandigram. The camps entered the sixth day today. So far 11,828 people have registered their names. On 19 January, 3,689 people registered their names. Three hundred and sixty people were given medicines while another 360 people underwent diagnostic tests. Eighty people were referred for higher treatment.
