Trinamul Congress is going to launch two awareness campaigns titled Samarthaner Sangjog and Samarthaner Sanglap to build intense contact with people.
This was announced by Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of the party.
After today’s meeting, on Sunday, Abhishek will be meeting virtually with more than 1.20 lakh people, said sources.
Mr Banerjee held a virtual meeting today, where party leaders and workers across the state were present.
The party has already launched Unnayaner Panchali, a booklet contacting development of the state government in the past 15 years. Noted singers have sung the development work in the form of folklore and vans carrying posters and playing the folklore have been deployed across the state.
“We will appoint district coordinators, who will act as our eyes and ears. We will announce the list tomorrow,” Abhishek is supposed to have told the party leaders. Adding to his statement he said that when “you meet people you are going as Didi’s representative. You should be humble.” He is supposed to have said that the people should see Didi’s songram (struggle) through your behaviour.
The initiatives will start functioning from 1 January, 2026. Thirty eight teams have been constituted across the state. Each team will have 5-10 people comprising the MPs, ministers, MLAs, presidents of panchayat samities, chairman of municipalities. The teams will go to the people making them aware of the programmes taken by the state government.
Eighteen hundred influencers have been identified. The district Trinamul Congress presidents and MLAs will go to the remaining 1,600 influencers.
The work will have to be completed within one month. Each influencer will be given a kit. The kit will be put in an envelope on which Unnayaner Panchali, 15 glorious years will be printed. In addition to this, there will be a letter written by party’s chairperson Mamata Banerjee, an uttariyo, a memento and 15 years of the report card on various development projects and schemes.
Mr Banerjee said Trinamul Congress is the only political party in the country that is sending details of the development work that have been carried out in the past 15 years in the form of a white paper. “We have the courage and guts to publish it. We are the only party in the country, that too in power, which has released and will release its report card and work done till date. No other party does this. In 2021, we did it by Bongo Dhwani Yatra and this time through Unnayaner Panchali. Where is BJP’s accountability? They didn’t submit a report card in 2024,” said Abhishek.
Abhishek set the theme for 2026 polls with his “Manbe na Haar, Aabar Trinamul Sarkar” (we will not bow down, we will form another TMC govt) , said the insiders.
The TMC national general secretary attacked the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. “When he was here he said Bachte Chai, BJP Tai. Modi and BJP sent a message – surrender and join BJP else we won’t spare you. But we will not be cowed down, he said, adding “Let them attack, but Maa Mati Manush Sarkar jitbe”.
