Day after marathon questioing by the West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) in the signature mismatch case, Trinamool Congress (TMC) is now facing the heat of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his alleged involvement in the primary school jobs scam case.
The TMC second-in-command appeared before the ED office in Salt Lake on the northern outskirts of Kolkata for questioning, as part of the central investigating agency’s ongoing probe.
Abhishek reached the ED’s CGO Complex office around 11 am after receiving a summons issued in the money laundering probe linked to irregularities in connection with the multi-crore cash-for-school-job case in West Bengal. He declined to issue any comments on the case while entering the premises.

Notably, there was no heightened security at the CGO Complex on Monday; neither police nor central forces were deployed, and no additional security measures were put in place. It should be mentioned that Abhishek’s visits to the CGO Complex would earlier trigger strict security protocols across the entire stretch and traffic movement was restricted.
The ED had issued its notice to Abhishek on June 3 asking him to appear before the agency by noon on June 15. Officials are expected to record his statement as part of their investigation to trace the alleged proceeds of crime.
Abhishek’s name was mentioned in the charge sheets filed by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED in their respective probes into the matter, though not as an accused.
The CID grilling
Abhishek faced an eight-and-a-half-hour questioning session by the CID in connection with the signature-mismatch case. This was the second round of grilling faced by the Diamond Harbour MP after he returned from Delhi on Thursday.
The CID has also asked Abhishek to appear at its headquarters at Bhabani Bhaban on June 16 in another case, in connection with an FIR which claimed that the senior TMC leader had incited violence and threatened Union Home Minister Amit Shah during one of his campaigns.
