India skipper Virat Kohli became the fastest player in the history of the game to cross the 11,000-run mark in ODIs. The “run machine” added this another feather to his cap while playing against Pakistan at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday.

Kohli achieved the feat in 222 innings, going past Sachin Tendulkar who took 276 knocks to go past the 11,000-run mark. Behind Tendulkar is Ricky Ponting who reached the milestone in 286 innings, while Sourav Ganguly took 288 innings to get there.

Meanwhile, Kohli also became only the third Indian after Tendulkar and Ganguly and ninth cricketer overall to get to 11,000 ODI runs.

Virat Kohli already holds the record for being the fastest to get 10,000 ODI runs, achieving the feat in 205 innings.

On Sunday, the 30-year-old scored 77 runs in 65 balls which included 7 boundaries. This was his second fifty on the trot, with the first one coming against Australia.

Kohli first played second fiddle to Rohit Sharma (140) before changing gears to help India jump over the 300-run mark.

Batting first, India posted a total of 336-5 in 50 overs against Pakistan and won the match by 89 runs (DLS method).
