CWC 2019: India to don new orange and blue coloured ‘away’ jersey against England

The whole idea behind changing the jersey colour is to look different as England’s jersey also has a similar shade of blue as India’s and before the starting of the World Cup the ICC introduced a new rule asking the teams to sport home and away jerseys in the tournament.

Team India will be donning a new orange and blue coloured ‘away’ jersey for their tie against England at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on Sunday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to their official Twitter handle to share the look of the new Indian jersey.

“Presenting #TeamIndia ‘s Away Jersey. What do you make of this one guys? #TeamIndia #CWC19,” wrote BCCI on the micro-blogging site.

ICC also tweeted a video where Indian players are seen donning the new jersey for a photoshoot.

“Special occasion, special kit 👌 #TeamIndia will wear this in their #OneDay4Children game against England on Sunday. #OD4C | #ENGvIND | #CWC19,” wrote ICC on the tweet.

On Tuesday, the ICC had said that the colour options were given to the BCCI and they chose what they felt went best with the colour combination.

The whole idea behind changing the jersey colour is to look different as England’s jersey also has a similar shade of blue as India’s and before the starting of the World Cup the ICC introduced a new rule asking the teams to sport home and away jerseys in the tournament.

“For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event, the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match,” reads the ICC rule.

India are currently at the second spot on the points table with 11 points from 6 matches. The Men in Blue are unbeaten in the tournament so far with 5 wins and a rain-washed match and have almost confirmed a berth in the semi-finals.
