Fifty eligible unemployed youth from the interior rural pockets of Kalahandi have been provided with 15 days long pre-recruitment training at Bhawanipatna for entry in defence and para military services. 
The camp was organized by district administration on behalf of Odisha State Employment Mission from 25 October and concluded on last Friday. 
Of the 760 youth who participated in the screening process, 50 were selected for the short crash course on different trades. 
During this training the participants were imparted physical training, theory on subjects like math, physics, chemistry, general science, English and practical on computer.
District employment Officer Bijaya Kumar Patra said due to different reasons, including absence of army and air force recruitment rally in the rally and lack of awareness among youth about military career, representation from Kalahandi in military and para military services is poor in comparison to other districts.  The purpose of the camp is to create an interest for military services and to train rural youth so that they can successfully face recruitment requirement for the same.
Kalahandi Collector Bijaya Ketan Upadhaya attending the valedictory function said that such pre-recruitment trainings will be organized from time to time. 
He asked the youth to take advantage of these training camps to join military and para medical services. 
Participant youths interacting with collector requested that district administration should take initiative so that army and air force recruitment rally should be organized in Kalahandi so that more numbers of people can join military services from the district. 
They also told that the participants of pre recruitment training camp should get bonus mark in the final recruitment process.
