Bhubaneswar, 11 November
Mr Sahdev Reddy and Ms Laxmi Reddy, whose minor daughter has allegedly been kidnapped last week, today sought the intervention of commissioner of police in tracing the girl.
"We had been to meet the police commissioner to draw his attention to the matter and request him to direct the concerned investigating officer to expedite the probe. As we could not meet the commissioner, we handed over our petition to the additional commissioner of police," said Mr Reddy.
Alleging that police are showing callousness in tracking the accused and victim, he maintained that their lives and dignity are at stake. The family had earlier written to the chief minister Mr Naveen Patnaik and DGP Mr Prakash Mishra in this connection.
It may be mentioned here that the girl belonging to Siripur Kandh Sahi in Bhubaneswar was allegedly abducted by a local youth on 6 November.
Police, who were accused of lukewarm response from the beginning, have started investigation after registering a case under section 366 of IPC.
Activist Biswapriya Kanungo demanded that police should expedite the investigation and trace the girl at the earliest.
